HSBC Project Plaza & Grain of Rice
As part of the 150th anniversary celebrations, the ground-level plaza beneath the iconic HSBC headquarters was revitalized using mixed brick paving to form an image of the past local street layout with a series of etched vertical cantilever glass display panels. Work included justification of the adequacy of the structure to carry the new loading and removal and reinstatement of previous finishes and waterproofing above the 4-level basement. PCE was also responsible for design of the structural stability and waterproofing works required for the ‘10m tall ‘Grain of Rice’ bronze sculpture including creation of a 1m deep basement structure rebate for a concealed fixing system.
